Four decades of operating experience.
Westech International is the technical and operational arm of the Wesson Group. Since the 1980s, that experience has shaped the design, build, operation and turnaround of natural resource and energy projects across Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. The approach was forged underground and has not changed.
The story starts at 3,500 metres below surface.
Brian Wesson, Westech's founder, began his career as an engineer in South Africa's deepest gold mines. He spent seventeen years at Rand Mine working on the Witwatersrand deep-level gold projects, ultimately operating at the 84th level, then the deepest mining operation in the world.
He also contributed to the Harmony Gold expansion: a one-million-tonne-per-month operation, including large-scale underground ventilation and refrigeration, and housing for 32,000 workers.
Brian's experience underground revealed a recurring gap in the natural resource industry. Technical experts understood the asset in detail but were not always part of capital decisions. Corporate leaders directed capital but were often removed from day-to-day operations. This gap between technical understanding and commercial decision-making leads to project overruns, delays and misallocated capital.
Westech does what others study. Most firms in this market write the feasibility and hand it off at financial close. Westech writes the feasibility and stays for the build, the commissioning, the workforce rebuild, the years of operation that follow. The same team holds the technical work and the commercial accountability. Owner-operator experience rather than consultancy. Continuity from feasibility through production. A turnaround record on distressed assets that few firms in the sector can match. And, through Lionsbridge, access to capital sits inside the Group rather than outside it.
Engagements can be scoped to a single phase: a feasibility study, a technical review, a turnaround. They can also extend across the full lifecycle. The same current operator experience comes with each.
After leaving South Africa, Brian founded the Wesson Group in Sydney to address this gap. Engineering, operations and ownership were brought together under one structure. Westech International was established as the Group's technical and operational arm.
Four decades on, that approach continues across projects in Europe, Africa, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. The experience embedded at 3,500 metres continues to define how Westech delivers, operates and takes accountability today.
The people who understood how the asset operated were rarely in the room when capital decisions were made. The Wesson Group was built to change that, bringing engineering, operations and ownership into the same structure.
Three Roles. One Group.
The Wesson Group brings together capital, operations and engineering within one structure. Delivered through three companies: Sponsor, Partner and Implement. Westech sits within the Group as the engineering and execution arm.
Lionsbridge Investments
Sponsors and develops strategic projects in partnership with governments and global investors. Underwrites early works, structures joint ventures, and aligns capital to the asset.

Holds executive mandate, board positions, and sovereign relationships. Operates assets day to day, from listing and reporting through to steady-state production. Manages assets sponsored by the Group, drawing on four decades of operating experience.

Designs, procures, constructs and commissions plants, mines and infrastructure. Continues into maintenance, optimisation and expansion engineering through the life of the asset.

Engagement Model
A senior team is accountable from scope through handover. Each engagement has a defined deliverable and a reporting cadence agreed at the start. We engage at any stage of the project lifecycle, providing targeted support or full delivery as required. Engagement is structured around the asset, the stage, and the outcome required.
Project Development and Feasibility
For clients advancing a project from concept to bankable study.
Milestone-based from concept definition and exploration supervision through study work, and JORC and NI 43-101 compliant reporting. A senior team is accountable from initial scope through sign-off. The same team can carry the project forward into design, construction, commissioning and operation.
Operations, Turnaround and Expansion
For operators of underperforming, stalled, or distressed assets.
Westech walks into the asset, takes operational accountability, and rebuilds from inside. Engagement modes range from care and maintenance through embedded senior management to full CEO mandate. Loss to profit within eighteen months at Mineral Hill. Care-and-maintenance to first gold pour in eighteen months at Otso. Senior team embedded on-site, operations rebuilt, workforces recruited and trained, management systems and reporting structures installed. Engagement extends to brownfield expansion, throughput optimisation, and life-of-mine planning where required. The engagement model and vertically integrated structure allow Westech to complete full turnarounds within twelve to eighteen months.
Infrastructure, Energy and EPC/EPCM
For projects requiring infrastructure or EPC/EPCM delivery in remote and technically demanding environments.
Project-delivery focused for mining, processing, energy and site infrastructure. The engineers who design the plant carry it through procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Long-standing industry relationships and a deep network of OEMs support equipment selection, procurement and delivery. Experience includes modular process plants, shaft sinking, and civil and structural works in high-risk and remote environments.
Independent Technical Review and Due Diligence
For investors, lenders, and boards making capital decisions.
Scope is set by the decision being made: technical due diligence, independent review, Competent Person or Qualified Person reporting, and fatal flaw analysis. Focus is on risk, value, and deliverability. The senior team leading the engagement signs the report, providing clear, defensible technical judgement aligned to the transaction.
